April is all about new beginnings, pale green shoots reaching for the sun, new 

life and transformation. The Salt Spring Concert Band with director Dawn Hage 

will explore the musical possibilities of this theme in Awakenings taking place at 

ArtSpring on Friday, April 29. The concert will feature both traditional and 

modern compositions from Sheep May Safely Graze by Bach to Awakening Hills 

by Richard Saucedo. The performance includes gorgeous multi media 

presentations to complement both Earthdance by Micheal Sweeney and Laputa 

– Castle in the Sky by Joe Hisaishi and poetry readings in the Awakenings 

theme. In addition, the virtuosic Luanne Katz will display her mallet talents 

when she joins the percussion section of the SSCB for this special concert. Loch 

Lomond, Lord of The Rings, When Summer is Just Beginning and Paradiso 

round out this stunning and not to be missed concert of music that will awaken
