We have our annual Scholastic Book Fair coming to Fernwood library next week. There was a volunteer signup that went out from the PAC last week. Please sign up to help where you can! This year all volunteers are given a $5 off coupon for their help at the fair!  If you did not get the email you can send an email to fernwoodpac@sd64.bc.ca to let us know when you can help. 

Everyone has the opportunity to have their name entered into a draw! We have $20 coupons to give away as prizes to three lucky students. Your child will have the opportunity to view the books this Monday and send home a list of what they may like to read. Teachers have communicated that a "Wish List" going home does not necessarily mean they will be bought. Buying days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Wrecking Ball is the newest addition to this series. Please note that although it is advertised in this year’s book fair flyer, it is not actually released until November 5th and will be an order only purchase at our fair this year.

Last year we had the most successful rewards fair we have ever had, so let’s try to top it this year! We are lucky this year to gain an added 10% in rewards for planning and hosting our fair in October!

GUIDELINES FROM THE SCHOOL: 

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school. The entire community is invited to participate by purchasing children’s books. Did you know that for every $10 you spend at the Book Fair, up to $6 in product goes directly back to our school? Your support of this event results in books going directly into your child's classroom through Teacher wishlists and also to our library and school. As a result of last year's Book Fair over 200 books were given to the school from Teachers wish lists and the Library wish list. Your participation in the Book Fair makes a difference! 

Monday OCTOBER 21ST: The children may come through the library with their Teacher to look at the books and create a wish list. The wish list does go home for parents to review, however  we will explain to students that creating a wish list does not mean that the books will necessarily be purchased.

Tuesday, OCTOBER 22ND, Wednesday, OCTOBER 23RD & Thursday, OCTOBER 24TH: If you would like to purchase any of the wishlist books, please come in person or send payment with your child. Please talk to your child about the responsibilities that come with carrying cash to school. 

Parents are encouraged to stop in anytime and browse through the book selection –    THE BOOK FAIR ACCEPTS CASH, CREDIT CARD OR CHEQUE TO SCHOLASTIC (NOT THE SCHOOL OR PAC).

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO RUN THIS EVENT. AN EMAIL WAS SENT WITH A SCHEDULE BUT WE ARE FLEXIBLE AND APPRECIATE ANY TIME YOU CAN VOLUNTEER EVEN IF YOU DROP IN.  THANK YOU TO OUR PARENT FAIR "CHAIRS" SUSAN DAVENPORT AND ALISHA RENAUD FOR THE MANY HOURS THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED.
