The weather cooperated June 18th for our leaving ceremony for our Grade 5s. It was a perfect set up outside with chairs, decorations and flowers to mark this most momentous of events! Each student was acknowledged with a certificate and a copy of "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss (thank you to your PAC!). Fond memories were shared by the students and by Ms Logan and their Teacher (Mr. McPhee, Ms Bain and Ms Verhaeghe). We said thank you and goodbye to the families who are leaving Fernwood School (have no other siblings coming up). We also did the Firebird Drum Ceremony where the grade 5s passed on the drum to the grade 4s. Students and their parent were treated to a fruitsicle and also a donation from Harlan's Fine Chocolates! Thank you to our District Maintenance and Grounds staff for making the school and grounds beautiful, to Laura Morgan for cleaning inbetween groups for these students she adores; Leah for the decorations and flowers; and to Andrew McPhee and Mylene Dammel-Sherrin for helping set up the audio and filming of this event that we will make available soon. We are sad to see them leave but wish them all the best for next year as they move on to Grade 6! |
