Dear Parents and Guardians,

In the Spring, your SD64 Board of Education, embarked on a full review of its program offerings, transportation services, and facilities. The Board of Education is seeking  input from parents, students, staff and the general public to help determine a  configuration model that will best serve the students in our  District.

Some examples of what configuration means are outlined in the attached letter from your District Parent Advisory Council. It can include what grades are offered at a school, what programs run (French, MySeec, etc), where buses and water taxis operate and more. Please take this opportunity to let them know what works and what doesn't work for your child.

One of these opportunities will be here at Fernwood School on the evening of Thursday, November 7th at 6:30 pm.  Please mark this on your calendar!  If you cannot attend one of the in person consultation meetings, your ideas can also be shared here at the district website:   https://sd64.bc.ca/district-configuration-review/

We look forward to hearing from you about these important questions,

Kelda Logan

INVITATION FOR THOUGHT EXCHANGE:  (this will also be sent by separate email to families and staff)

Dear staff, students, families, and community members:

School District 64 needs your insights, creativity and thoughtfulness!

As you may know, SD64  has embarked on a full review of its program offerings, transportation services, and facilities. The Board of Education is seeking your input to help determine an optimal and sustainable configuration model that will best serve the students in the Gulf Islands School District.

School District 64 invites you share your thoughts and ideas about the ways this district can organize learning and resources to best serve students. Through Thoughtexchange, you will have the opportunity to read the thoughts of other participants and assign 1-5 stars to show how important each idea is to you. You will also have a chance to discover the top thoughts in the conversation. This process is interactive and ongoing and closes on November 30, 2019. We encourage you to create an account with Thoughtexchange and to return often to share your thoughts, view and rate the thoughts of others, and discover what's most important to your group.

To create an account, please visit

www.thoughtexchange.com and click JOIN. To participate in this Thoughtexchange, you will need to enter this following exchange number: 522-043-214
