Hello Parents, I am very excited to welcome you back to school and to present to you our restart plan for Fernwood Elementary. You will notice that is covers a lot of detail, and sometimes this detail can seem a bit overwhelming (5 pages??!!). I want to assure you our two main priorities are making sure that your children experience a fun learning environment where they will thrive, and to exceed the safety guidelines wherever we can, and I am confident we will be able to achieve both of these priorities this year. I have a feeling that most students will notice very few changes in their day to day school life and will continue to experience joy in their learning at Fernwood. The restart plan follows all the protocols outlined by Dr Henry, our chief medical officer, and the Ministry of Education. We have also had some feedback from PAC and the school's Health and Safety committee, as well as representatives from the district office. Schools will not be opening in the same way as it has in past years...this year, we will have an Orientation Week as follows:
A few other notes... If you have moved or your situation has changed in some way, please update Kelda and Leah ASAP so that we can keep our plan and numbers as accurate as possible We have tried very hard to balance the number of students coming for Orientation on Sept 10 and 11 (so that approximately half of the students are here at any one time), so I'm afraid we cannot accommodate requests to switch your dates. All questions can be directed to Kelda: klogan@sd64.org or call 250-537-9332 I hope you continue to enjoy this gorgeous weather and look forward to seeing you on September 10 or 11th. Sincerely, Kelda Logan Principal Fernwood Elementary School klogan@sd64.org 250-537-9332 |
