September can be an emotional month for children returning to school. Seeing old friends, a brand new teacher, a new class, and new year of learning can be both exciting and create a lot of different emotions, including anxiety. This is normal, and usually goes away within a couple of days or weeks. You, as a parent, can have a positive influence on your children by being enthusiastic about the school year, even if there are disappointments or worries. Helping your children believe in themselves and giving them the skills to be able to turn any situation into one in which they come out on top is like giving them a gift that will last a lifetime. |
