Fruit and Veggie Nutrition Program

The School participates in the BC School Fruit and Vegetable Nutrition Program. Next week's delivery is Mandarin oranges.
"Unwrapping Mandarin oranges is a well-loved Canadian holiday tradition we've been enjoying for over 120 years. Oranges travelled  by ship and were packed in nine-pound wooden crates, hand tied in pairs to form a bundle. The crates were shipped across Canada by "Orange Trains" with painted orange boxcars to let everyone know the oranges had arrived and with them the start of the holiday season.  Once the oranges were eaten, the crates became instant sleds, tool boxes and dollhouses. Although the oranges are not grown in BC, Vancouver is an important part of the chain of bringing fresh produce from field to market."  (Source: aitc.ca/bc)
