Just because it's January, doesn't mean that our school garden isn't on our minds! Mr McPhee's class has been getting out into the garden beds at least once a week lately, working to weed out the old plants and refurbish the soil.

Mr McPhee and Ms Kennedy have applied for a "green grant" for garden supplies, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we are successful - we'd like some more tools. Dan Jason from Salt Spring Seeds has generously donated seeds to our school as we begin to think about greenhouse planting soon....

Also, our fabulous garden mentor, Wendi Gilson, continues to offer her Friday garden program to children. They have been hard at work learning about pollinators, birds, edible plants, medicinal plants, and also tending to the plants overwintering in the greenhouse. Thanks so much, Wendi, for all you are doing for us!

We look forward to getting all of our students out into the greenhouse and garden in the Spring, which is just around the corner.
