Letters are going home with grade 4 students providing their parents with information about participation in the Ministry's Foundational Skills Assessments.

Students in Grade 4 will be completing the Foundation Skills Assessments In January and part of February. The Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) is a set of reading, writing and numeracy tests administered each winter to BC students in grades 4 and 7. FSA provides a “snapshot” of how well BC students are attaining the foundation skills of reading, writing and numeracy. You can help your child prepare for the assessments by encouraging him/her to do his/her best and by visiting the Ministry website for more information regarding FSA: http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/assessment/fsa/info/welcome.htm. Dictionaries and thesauruses may be used for all components and any type of calculator may be used when completing the Numeracy component. Students can familiarize themselves beforehand by doing sample assessments found at:    www.bced.gov.bc.ca/assessments/fsa (click on “sample questions”).

If you have any questions, please call the school.
