Dear parents of Grade 5 students,
At SIMS we support diverse ways of learning by offering a wide variety of programs. Middle years students are at the apex of cognitive, physical and hormonal change, and we endeavor to address their needs academically by giving them as broad a choice of programming as possible.
We offer a dynamic English program as well as a Late French Immersion program. Additionally, we offer a place-based program called MYSEEC. We also provide an exploratory program for all our students that includes the practical arts such as cooking and woodworking, as well as the fine arts such as music and dance. Our band program is a thriving one, with a beginner band, an advanced band as well as a jazz band. Students who like to sing have a choir program available to them during lunch hours. Our athletic director offers many and diverse activities for our students during PE: parkour, gymnastics and basketball being just a few.
On Tuesday, February 25, SIMS will be showcasing our many programs at a parent information meeting at 7:00 pm in our student centre.
Please note that this event will replace the usual French Immersion meeting. Representatives of the French Immersion program will be on hand to answer questions.
Deadline for applications for both the Late French Immersion program and the MYSEEC program is Thursday, March 13. SIMS registration forms are available on line at http://www.sims64.com or from the school office. Registrations will be date and time stamped upon receipt.
Please contact the SIMS office if you have any questions.
We look forward to meeting our future Grade 6 students at our event!
