This coming Thursday, April 30th, all the students and staff at Fernwood School will be participating in our 10th annual "Great Water Walk". Information has been sent home with each student in hopes that we will meet our goal of raising $1500, which will cover costs for two village wells in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. We have consistently been able to meet or exceed it for nine straight years! By walking to St Mary Lake to collect water and carry it back to their school, our students get to better understand the daily experience of millions of children in the developing world who must rely on dubious water sources far from their homes in order to survive. It also provides them with a real sense of personal accomplishment by reaching out to help others less fortunate than themselves. A pledge form and collection envelope and important details about the walk have been sent home with each student. Parents are welcome to walk with us. Thank you so much for your continuing support support of this very worthy Fernwood tradition! (Robin Andison) |
