Students in Mrs. Burgess' class learned and developed their pottery skills making ceramic pinch pots with visiting artist, Laura Keil. Laura is a long time resident of Salt Spring. She has an MFA in art and ceramics from the Art Institute of Chicago. She also produces wood furniture and felted wool. The purpose of the  "Artist in the Classroom" program, sponsored by the SSI Arts Council, is to give the arts a stronger presence in the everyday lives of students by bringing the artists of Salt Spring Island into the classroom to share their skills and to create an awareness of arts in our community.
