FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SALT SPRING ISLAND, BC – On Sunday, November 25th from 1 to 3 PM the Salt Spring Public Library will host the first talk in its new series: Perspectives on Parenting.   The theme this year is Supporting Healthy Nervous Systems.

Do you wonder what the increasing involvement in screen-based realities might be doing to the brains of our developing children?  Are you interested in ways to manage this new aspect of being human?  Salt Spring Island is home to many people who are actively engaged in these and similar questions.

This series of talks will feature some of these people and what they are learning.  Our aim is to present practical and positive support to families raising children in this internet influenced and digitally dominated age from a wide variety of perspectives.

On Sunday, November 25th we will take a look at ways to work with addiction to devices with Amber Wood, a practitioner of Functional Medicine.  On Sunday, December 2nd Chantal Michelle, Educator, Coach and founder of The School of Happiness will share many of the helpful things she has discovered to support health and happiness in children.

In January, Cornelia Krikke will offer some of the very effective ways to work with anxiety that she has learned from, among other things, Donna Eden’s Energy Medicine exercises.  And in February local Salt Spring author Colleen Adrian (Freeing your child from self-criticism and perfectionism) will present a few of the well-crafted techniques she knows to help our children learn to regulate their own emotional and mental states.
