SS Literacy GIANT Book Sale

posted Nov 16, 2016, 1:40 PM by Leah Ashford

Salt Spring Literacy’s 10th annual Giant Book Sale runs next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18, 19 and 20 at the Farmers’ Institute on Rainbow Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It’s the best place to stock up on winter reading, with prices beginning at 50 cents for kids’ books and most other books only $1 or $2. After 1 p.m. on Sunday, all purchases are by donation. Payments can be made with cash or credit cards.

An estimated 20,000 books will be displayed in more than 40 categories. They have all been cleaned by dedicated volunteers and many are in as-new condition.

As well, the 2nd annual Jewels for Literacy Sale will run at the same time and place, with wonderful, affordable mostly second-hand jewellery for adults and kids.

All proceeds benefit the Salt Spring Literacy Society, which provides the One to One reading program in Salt Spring’s elementary schools, plus other family literacy programs and free tutoring of all kinds for adults.
