Twice Monthly Info Sessions on Becoming a Foster Parent

My name is Dianne Thompson and I have just taken the role of Recruitment Coordinator for the Foster Parent Support Services Society.  Our organization is non-profit and offers support for Foster Parents in many different ways, but right now more importantly we are recruiting for much needed foster homes.

Our message is basic,

Every child deserves to be in a safe and nurturing home. Many children and youth on Vancouver Island today are not able to live with their families. They need a temporary home, a safe haven in their community where they can stay while they and their families heal and become strong again.

Maybe fostering is something you’ve never thought of; maybe it’s something you’ve thought about for a long time; maybe now is the time. It starts with just one.

Would it be possible for you to forward the attached letter to your PAC, school staff and parents via email to help us encourage people to become foster parents? We have information sessions twice monthly, our next one is February 28th. We need to spread the word as quickly as we can.

It begins with a phone call. Not a lifetime commitment, not a promise to save the world. Just one phone call to say you might be able to offer a safe place for a child or youth to stay while they and their family heal and become strong again.

We certainly would appreciate any support with this and if you have any questions or comments please feel free to call or email me.

Thank you.
