Research demonstrates that stress, both positive and negative, has a profound impact on the development of a child’s brain, and that the neural circuits for dealing with stress are particularly malleable or “plastic” during the fetal and early childhood periods. A child’s ability to cope with stress in the early years has consequences for physical and emotional health throughout life.

The session will focus on the important role of early childhood educators, teachers, parents, caregivers in helping young children learn to manage stress. A key focus of the session will be on sharing practical strategies and resources that have been shown to be effective in reducing and helping children learn to manage stress.

Cindy Andrew is former educator and long time health promotion specialist. Cindy is the BC based program consultant with the Psychology Foundation of Canada and also works in a similar capacity with the Centre for Addictions Research of BC at the University of Victoria. She and her family live in Victoria.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
