Ocean's Day at Fernwood

posted Jun 6, 2017, 3:19 PM by Leah Ashford   [ updated Jun 8, 2017, 4:59 PM ]

Yesterday, our students took part in World Ocean's Day both here at Fernwood and at the beach and dock. Students participated in a watershed demo, touch tanks on the beach, ocean themed gym games, and created artwork reflecting what they know about the intertidal zone with Artist, Donald Gunn. The goal is to turn the students' artwork into interpretive signs that span Fernwood dock and teach the public about the importance of our oceans. Thanks to Teachers, Meghan Kerr, Erika Verlinden, and Andrew McPhee; as well as Cate McEwan from WildBC, and Leanna Boyer, Seachange Marine Conservationist (and mom to Stella!) for all your hard work making this happen for our students!
